Convention Guide
Navigating Conventions With Confidence
Cosplay Is Not Consent
The most important principle at any convention: wearing a costume — regardless of how much it reveals — is not an invitation for touching, unsolicited commentary, or photography without permission. You are always within your rights to decline a photo request, ask someone to stop taking pictures, or request that posted images be taken down. Convention staff and security can assist if needed.
Photography Etiquette
For cosplayers: always feel empowered to decline photo requests. For photographers: always ask before shooting, particularly for closer shots. After taking a photo, check in about tagging and crediting preferences before posting online. Respect requests not to post certain images, especially if the lighting or angle is unflattering.
Handling Unsolicited Comments
Full-busted cosplayers often receive comments that range from well-intentioned but awkward to genuinely unwelcome. You owe no one an explanation of your costume choices, your body, or your modifications. A polite "thanks" or simply moving on are both valid responses. If comments cross a line, convention staff are there to help.
Navigating Crowds
Full costumes, props, and wigs take up more space than everyday clothing. Be aware of your silhouette in crowded convention halls. Step to the side of main walkways for photos rather than blocking foot traffic. Be considerate of other costumers' elaborate builds when moving through tight spaces.
The Cosplay Community
The full-busted cosplay community is active and supportive — on Instagram, TikTok, Discord, Reddit, and Twitch. Connecting with other cosplayers who share your body type is one of the best resources for fitting tips, product recommendations, costume ideas, and general support. Don't hesitate to reach out.
- 01
Always Ask Before Photographing
No exceptions — regardless of whether the costume is revealing. A simple "Can I take your photo?" takes two seconds and is always appreciated.
- 02
Respect Declined Requests Gracefully
If a cosplayer declines a photo, thank them and move on. No explanation is owed.
- 03
Check Tagging Preferences
After taking a photo, ask how the cosplayer would like to be credited online before posting.
- 04
Know Where to Report
Every convention has a harassment reporting process. Know where the staff station is at the beginning of your day.
- 05
Support Other Cosplayers
Compliment the craft. Ask about techniques. Build the community rather than competing within it.
