Selfie Tips

Cosplay Selfie Tips

Not every convention moment has a photographer. These selfie techniques get great costume shots on your own.

Camera Height for Selfies

Hold your camera above eye level and angle slightly downward for the most flattering costume shots. The camera should capture from mid-chest to just above the head for most costume details.

Mirror Selfies

Full-length mirror selfies are excellent for showing off complete costume looks. Ensure the mirror is clean and well-lit. Position yourself so the phone camera doesn't block the costume's best features.

Lighting for Selfies

Natural window light is the best selfie lighting โ€” position yourself facing the window rather than with the window behind you. At conventions, find the well-lit areas near windows or light panels for the best on-the-floor shots.

Using a Tripod and Self-Timer

A small, lightweight portable tripod allows you to take full-body costume shots without a photographer. Set the self-timer for 10 seconds and use burst mode to capture multiple frames per trigger.
